Equipment

The BabyLab Facility includes:

  • 1 waiting room, furnished specifically for the comfort of the participating infants and their parents.

  • 1 room used for conducting behavioural studies based on the use of visual and auditory stimulation. The room is equipped with a station for the participating child (held in a parent’s arms or by an investigator), which is isolated from the rest of the room by a sliding curtain. This station consists of a comfortable chair, a monitor for presenting the stimuli and a video camera. There is also a station for managing the presentation of stimuli, comprising 1 desktop computer.

  • 1 room dedicated to conducting EEG studies. The room is equipped with a station for the participating child (held in a parent’s arms or by an investigator), which is isolated from the rest of the room by a sliding curtain. This station consists of a comfortable chair, a monitor for presenting the stimuli and a video camera. There is also a station for managing the acquisition of EEG data (1 computer) and the presentation of stimuli (1 computer). The EEG is a BrainAmp DC system, including 64-channel EEG R-Net caps especially designed for infants, in different sizes (current available sizes: from 3 months old to approximately 1 year old) and a set of passive electrodes, which are placed in contact with the skin via soft sponges imbued with saline solution.

  • A bath with a changing table for the infants.
