Compute cluster hardware/software overview
Linux cluster distribution: Rocks Cluster 7.0
Job Scheduler: Sun Grid engine.
Nodes
The CIMeC compute cluster consists of 5 nodes:
Hardware:
- Dell PowerEdge M640 Server
- 48 core - Intel(R) Xeon(R) Gold 5118 CPU @ 2.30GHz
- 320G RAM
- OS: Linux Centos 7
Names:
- The compute nodes are named compute-0-0 to compute-0-4.
- You can connect to them from the frontend, example: ssh compute-0-0
Frontend:
- Linux Centos 7 virtual machine, 4 cores, 6G Ram.
- Do not use it for computation. The frontend, login node is named cluster.cimec.unitn.it. It is accesible via ssh (console interface) and X2GO client (graphic interface). From the frontend you can submit your task via Sun Grid Engine scheduler.
- You can monitor cluster status from: http://cluster.cimec.unitn.it/ganglia
Frontend 2:
- Linux Centos 7 virtual machine, 4 cores, 6G Ram.
- Do not use it for computation. The frontend2, login node is named login-node1.cimec.unitn.it. It is accesible via ssh (console interface) and X2GO client (graphic interface). From the frontend you can submit your task via Sun Grid Engine scheduler, also you can run matlab R2020a for submitting matlab job to the cluster nodes. You can not run matlab job directly on the login node.
